All people at this hour
Their hymns of praise are singing.
To tell of God’s great power
New gifts of converse bringing.
This day the Holy Ghost
Did quicken every voice
And with new tongues a host
Assembled to rejoice.


All whom God’s gift inspired,
The Holy Ghost descending,
Each word with wisdom fired,
All earthly speech transcending.
Let us commemorate
This gift of tongues with praise
And thanks articulate
Today above all days.
